Is ‘NCIS’ About To Lose Another Major Character?

NCIS is not afraid to lose characters, whether by them leaving or even dying. There is not a single main character left from the pilot, and only Sean Murray remains as Timothy McGee from the first season (his first appearance was on the seventh episode of Season 1). Now, another major character might be leaving.

Here is a look at what changes the NCIS season finale might bring to the show.

Could Katrina Law Leave NCIS?

Katrina Law might be leaving NCIS after this season’s finale. The Season 21 finale (“Reef Madness”) has some hints that Knight (Law) might leave the series by taking on a new job. The show has never shied away from characters leaving the show — often in shocking manners.

Caitlin Todd (Sasha Alexander) was a main character in the first season as she clashed with Jetrho Leroy Gibbs before joining the team and becoming a key member of his squad. In Season 2, she died in a shocking moment when Ari Haswari (Ziva David’s brother) shot her in the head in front of Gibbs and Tony DiNozza.

It was a shocking moment that showed that anyone could leave the show at any time — no matter how important they were to the show. Since that time, DiNozzo left when he quit the NCIS to raise his daughter in Europe. Ziva David appeared to die but then turned out to be alive, only to leave again to join DiNozzo in Europe. Jenny Shepard, the original NCIS Director was murdered. Even Gibbs left the show after the 19th season.

This time, it looks like another departure that doesn’t include a death. Knight’s former REACT colleague is taking her father’s old position in the Far East office after she turned it down. This means his position, which she had applied for years before, is open and he wants her to take it. Will she leave NCIS to take on this old dream job?

The final episode of the season shows her and Palmer (Brian Dietzen) in danger, and when they finally escape, Palmer is seriously injured and Knight has a decision to make. Fans won’t know until Season 22 whether she stays or leaves.

NCIS Is Bringing Back Beloved Characters

While Knight’s future is uncertain on NCIS, there is good news coming. This summer, Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo are shooting a spinoff called NCIS: Tony & Ziva. This series will stream on Paramount+ and have Tony and Ziva on an adventure across Europe.

The synopsis reads that Tony and Ziva have been raising their daughter while Tony has his own security company. However, when someone attacks Tony’s security company, he and Ziva go on the run in Europe, trying to figure out who is after them. This is their first time on the screen together in 10 years.
