Meghan Markle’s bitter family feud left Kate Middleton ‘worried’ for Prince Harry

Prince Harry fell head over heels in love with Meghan Markle, but it’s been revealed his sister-in-law Princess Kate had some reservations.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex had a whirlwind romance, with the pair getting engaged just a year after their first date. They tied the knot in a lavish ceremony in 2018 and have since gone on to welcome two children together – Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

The couple were joined by the Royal Family and plenty of A-list celebrities at their wedding, but there were some important guests missing. Meghan’s father Thomas Markle didn’t make it to the ceremony and the Duchess of Sussex didn’t invite her half-siblings Samantha Markle and Thomas Markle Jr.

The Princess of Wales was believed to be confused by the snub and was concerned that Harry hadn’t met his future-father-in-law. Royal expert Ingrid Seward told The Sun: “She could not understand why Harry had never met his future father-in-law, nor why Meghan, who Harry assured was The One and ‘ticked all his boxes’, appeared embarrassed about her family and unwilling to speak about them apart from her mother.”

According to Ingrid, Kate found it “all a bit worrying”. And the Princess of Wales isn’t the only one who was concerned with Meghan and Harry’s big day.

Queen Elizabeth II was believed to have felt “uncomfortable” and took issue with a number of things about the wedding. According to Ingrid’s latest book My Mother and I, the late monarch wasn’t happy with the then-Prince Charles waling Meghan down the aisle.

Thomas

Charles took on the privilege of walking Meghan down the aisle after her father didn’t make it to the ceremony. Thomas was originally supposed to walk Meghan down the aisle, but he was outed from the wedding after staging a series of paparazzi photographs.

It was Harry’s decision to ask his father to stand in, but Ingrid stated that the queen was “uncomfortable” with the decision. Harry recalled asking his father in the documentary Prince, Son and Heir: Charles at 70

He said: “I asked him to and I think he knew it was coming and he immediately said, ‘Yes, of course, I’ll do whatever Meghan needs and I’m here to support you.”
