Real reason ‘lonely’ Meghan Markle failed to bond with ‘uninterested’ Kate Middleton
Meghan Markle was desperate to get close to the Princess of Wales when she joined the Royal Family but Kate was “uninterested”, according to one author.
The pair first met in January 2017, when the Duchess of Sussex started dating Prince Harry. They seemed to develop a close friendship, with sources claiming Meghan turned to Kate for advice on life inside the Royal Family.
However, it wasn’t long before rumours of a rift started to circulate and after years of feuding, Meghan and Princess Kate are now estranged. While some reports suggested Meghan was behind the falling out, royal author Omid Scobie has claimed it was actually the Princess of Wales who wasn’t interested in forming a close bond.
Writing in his bombshell book Endgame, Omid said: “For Meghan, who found much of her time as a working royal a lonely and isolated experience, there was a hope that Kate would be someone she could at least turn to for an encouraging word during her lowest points.” He said Meghan had hoped they could bond over the fact they were “once both outsiders” to The Firm.
However, the author said Kate was “uninterested in forming this kind of bond with Meghan.” A source told Omid the Princess of Wales “wasn’t a fan” of Meghan and suggested she spend “more time talking about Meghan than talking to her.”
It’s believed the frosty relationship between the two women hasn’t let up, despite spending years apart. In Endgame, Omid noted how Princess Kate “shivered when Meghan’s name has come up around her.”
