Why Alyssa Ellman Wouldn’t Back Down: 3 Big Reasons She Wanted the Apartment on ‘Married at First Sight’
Married at First Sight ex Alyssa Ellman appeared checked out of her marriage yet eager to enjoy the “experience”. That included trying to convince her husband, Chris Collette, to let her stay in the apartment. But why is she trying to cling to that when the marriage isn’t what she wants? We did some digging and have a few theories.
Alyssa Ellman Stayed on Honeymoon — And MAFS Couples Guessed Why
From the time Alyssa saw her groom at the altar, she rejected him. While sidestepping with insistence she’s a “good person”, it’s clear she doesn’t find Chris Collette physically attracted.
She tried to blame it on “things” she heard from his friends and family. The worst of which was that the guy tends to work a lot. But Alyssa Ellman said just before she met her groom, that she wanted straight teeth.
Chris’ teeth aren’t quite straight, but he’s still an attractive, successful guy. But, on Married at First Sight, she refused to look beyond her initial assessment. Despite not wanting the marriage, she went to the Puerto Rico honeymoon.
Two of the MAFS spouses remarked that they thought Alyssa was in PR because the weather in Boston, Mass was much worse. While there, she refused to get to know her hubby. But she was very interested in the apartment the show provided. Why?
#1 Does Married at First Sight Wife Live at Home with Her Mom?
Since Alyssa Ellman doesn’t want to be married to Chris, why is she so obsessed with moving into the MAFS-provided apartment? She keeps talking about the “experience”. She seems to think that means hanging out doing fun stuff with other couples.
But that’s not what MAFS is about. It’s the experience of getting to know your new spouse. And she’s checked out of that. So, why not just go home and call it a day? Our preliminary research indicates that Alyssa lives at home with her mother.
The only address in her file is the three-bedroom, one-bath house owned by her mom. That’s the same mom who keeps warning her she’ll come off looking really bad on TV if she doesn’t watch it. Here’s a quick screenshot of where she lives.
Also, the house isn’t very modern. Her door looks all scratched up. And it’s nowhere near busy downtown Boston. So, did Alyssa want to live in a nice new Married at First Sight apartment in the heart of the city to get out of her mom’s house?
#2 Alyssa Wanted the Second Half of the MAFS Season for a Reason?
On their “honeymoon”, Alyssa kept bringing up suggestions on how they could divvy up the apartment. First, she wanted it to herself and for Chris Collete to just go away. Second, she suggested they take turns.
And she suggested that Chris could stay at the apartment for the first few weeks. Then, she said he could move out and she’d take the second half of the time. But is that timing more than a casual suggestion?
If you’re an avid Lifetime watcher, you’ll know that the second half of the apartment stay comes with a huge perk. There’s always an out-of-town trip to go somewhere interesting. Was Alyssa hoping to score another free vacation?
Already, she took the Puerto Rico trip where she steadfastly refused to spend time with her husband. It felt like she was alone on a vacay. Is that why she asked specifically to get the second-half of the apartment stay?
#3 More Air Time for Clout on Married at First Sight?
Last, was Alyssa Ellman hoping for more reality TV airtime by moving into the MAFS place? Her job is as a social media manager/marketer. So, is she trying to chase clout to upgrade to an influencer?
More episodes on reality TV might have been her goal. And that could be why she stuck around after saying I do, when she clearly meant I don’t. If that’s the case, Alyssa Ellman might not be too happy watching the season.
Without knowing cameras were on her, she raged at MAFS producers about how she was a “f***ing good person”. And she threatened that that’s how she’d better come off on TV. That’s not happened — clearly…
Most of the couples gave her side-eye whenever she talked about how much she tried…
And Lifetime episode editors hung her out to dry. After Chris Collette shut down her antics by asking for an early divorce, Alyssa kept trying. She showed up to the couples’ bowling night and tried to prop up her narrative.
As she explained that she tried to work things out, MAFS aired clip after clip that contradicted the words coming out of her mouth. So, whatever Alyssa Ellman’s agenda was in trying to worm her way into the apartment didn’t work out.
