Married At First Sight Season 18 Won’t Be The Escape Fans Are Looking For (Should They Cancel The Show?)

Married At First Sight season 18 is coming soon and, after a difficult previous season, many are looking for an escape, but the upcoming season may not be what viewers are hoping for. While Married At First Sight season 18 is supposed to be exciting for viewers of the long-running series, there are already some highly worrisome red flags about the season. Throughout the run of the show, viewers have seen a steep decline in the way that MAFS couples function, watching as the series went from matching pairs that were able to make relationships work to seeing them struggle.

While the Married At First Sight experts, Dr. Pepper Schwartz, Pastor Cal Roberson, and Dr, Pia Holec, do their best from season to season with the cast members they’re given, it’s typically far more difficult to find a suitable match than viewers realize. Married At First Sight season 17, based in Denver, saw the cast members struggling in their marriages right away, and many are hopeful that the upcoming MAFS season 18 won’t be the same. Though some are ready to see change in the new season, others are nervous that things won’t change in time to save the show.

Married At First Sight Season 17 Was Tough On Viewers

Although viewers were excited for Married At First Sight season 17, things changed quickly when it became clear the couples may not work out. During the early moments of the season, one of the brides ran away from her wedding after seeing the groom at the altar, and the chaos continued from there. When the marriages paired up by the experts all seemed to be failing, it was confusing to audiences who were used to seeing at least a few couples try to make things work. With half the couples split by the mid-season, MAFS season 17 continued its chaos.

By the end of Married At First Sight season 17, none of the couples had chosen to stay together, and the end was incredibly unsatisfactory until the reunion episode aired, dropping a major bombshell. During the reunion, it was revealed that nearly all of the couples had colluded to create their own storylines for the season, deciding they wanted to look good on camera rather than prioritize genuine storytelling.

Making up their own storylines, they acted things out on camera and hid that they weren’t being genuine from everyone, angering the audience and MAFS production.

MAFS Season 18 Doesn’t Look To Be Much Different

I Believe Married At First Sight Season 18 Will Be Even Worse Than Its Predecessor

While Married At First Sight season 17 was harrowing for audiences, it appears that MAFS season 18 could feature some of the same issues as its predecessor. Though there’s no way to know if the cast was misbehaving in the same way that the MAFS season 17 cast did, the trailer for Married At First Sight season 18 has many wondering if there will be some repeated storylines similar to the last season. With the potential for a runaway bride, it appears that MAFS season 18 isn’t the refreshing next step many hoped it could be after MAFS season 17.

Should Married At First Sight Continue?

While some are excited for the upcoming Married At First Sight season 18 and willing to give it a chance, others feel they’re at their wits end with the series. Though there are still exciting stories to be told on MAFS, it could be worth calling for the show to end after the eighteenth season. Even with the few couples who have stayed together in the last few seasons, Married At First Sight has had a difficult time creating season after season of content without issue. The series may benefit from ending or taking a break before its next season.
