Married At First Sight Season 18 Couples Prove The Upcoming Season Will Be A Complete Letdown

Fans don’t have much confidence that the new Married At First Sight season 18 couples will have lasting relationships. The Lifetime dating experiment, which sees strangers getting married to people they don’t know and figuring out if they want to stay together, doesn’t have a great track record of success. The most recent installment, Married At First Sight season 17, for example, saw every single couple decide to get divorced. There were two that initially said yes on Decision Day, but ultimately, neither relationship worked out.

Fans expressed deep skepticism that the Married At First Sight season 18 couples will have successful relationships.

When fan page @mafsfan posted about the new Married At First Sight season 18 cast on Instagram, fans took to the comments sections to give their initial reactions to the announcement. While there were a handful of people who seemed hopeful that this time around things might be different, the vast majority of social media users expressed deep skepticism that MAFS season 18 will turn things around for the reality series. On a post about Michelle and David, @_gina_christine_ admitted this looks like “it’s gonna end in divorce…Yikes.” @Glammahere simply exclaimed, “This ain’t happening.”

Meanwhile, @Hurdleangie observed that it didn’t seem like Michelle and David are the kinds of people who would “go to the same parties,” insinuating they’re a mismatched pair. Some fans even joked that they can already predict which cast members will be involved in a couple swap, which was teased by Lifetime in its recent cast announcement. On that topic, @Dixiebecca said of Michelle and David, “She’s swapping for sure,” with a crying-laughing emoji.

What Fan Skepticism Means For MAFS Season 18

Even before Lifetime announced the Married At First Sight season 18 cast and premiere date, skepticism ran deep in the fandom. Frustrations were mounting after the complete and utter failure that was MAFS season 17. Fans witnessed none of the couple staying together, but more than that, the season also revealed that the cast participated in behind-the-scenes shenanigans to create fictional narratives and storylines.

It’s not just the failed relationships among the cast that have caused anger. The MAFS experts have come under fire as well. Pastor Cal, Dr. Pepper and Dr. Pia have already been announced as returning for MAFS season 18. Since there will be no shakeup among the group of experts, that means the chances of more failed relationships this season are high.

Fans are right to be frustrated after what they witnessed during Married At First Sight season 17. There’s that saying, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” However, when it comes to MAFS, the formula is clearly broken, and major changes need to be made. The first step to fixing the damage is to bring in brand-new experts who will do a better job of finding compatible couples. Unfortunately, MAFS season 18 isn’t planning to fix anything, so fans should expect the worst yet again.
