Married At First Sight Season 17: Are Lauren Goodger & Orion Martzloff Still Together?

A scandalous twist in Lauren Goodger and Orion Martzloff’s Married at First Sight journey made it seem like they wouldn’t end up together. The Lifetime reality TV show premiered almost a decade ago, in July 2014. There have been 17 complete seasons, and Lauren and Orion were a part of Married at First Sight season 17 in Denver. MAFS season 17 introduced five couples, and the season ran from mid-October 2023 to late April 2024. The season was largely a letdown due to the failure of the experts’ matching choices and an attempted cast dupe.

An electrician by profession, Orion is proud of his Native American heritage and believes he’s someone who wears his heart on his sleeve. Orion, 27, looked forward to introducing his culture to his wife. He opened up about exploring his feminine side when he went on a date with a man. Lauren, 31, is a federal budget officer who describes herself as a “certified lover girl.” She identifies as queer but said she is a little bit more attracted to men. During her introduction, she declared she’d always be committed to her husband, despite being attracted to both men and women.

MAFS season 17, while not a success among the couples, was fairly entertaining. The season was the longest in MAFS history, and also produced the most inter-group animosity. Lauren and Orion were big proponents of that animosity, and their marriage suffered because their lack of communication and maturity. A lengthy preview of season 17 had Orion telling Lauren that he didn’t feel “comfortable” with the fact that Lauren slept with “somebody else.” Without even batting an eyelid, Lauren replied, “I did.”

Later in the trailer, Lauren admitted that she felt “remorse,” but there was “nothing” she could do to change “what happened.” In actuality, what happened, was that Lauren had slept with someone three months before coming on the show, and her admission did not sit well with Orion. That situation came on the heels of an insensitive racial “joke” Lauren made about Orion’s Native American heritage (via Lifetime.)

“I don’t even know what red skin means honestly,” Lauren said chuckling before saying, “Oh wait, I just looked at your face.”

Another trailer clip showed Lauren confiding in a friend about how she felt herself falling for Orion. “And now I’m just like what the f***,” she cried. During a sit-down with the show’s experts, Orion admitted he was “heartbroken” because of Lauren’s recent sexual history. The trailer made it look like whatever happened between him and Lauren had damaged the relationship for good. Orion didn’t see a possibility of them working out.

During the season, Lauren and Orion fell apart during the honeymoon. They started off the experiment positively and had mutual attraction and admiration for each other. However, that quickly wore down due to the several incidents that compounded.

The group dupe in Married at First Sight season 17 involved four of the couples attempting to present themselves positively in front of the cameras to get a good edit. However, it backfired and created resentment among the couples and the men and women of the season. Lauren banded together with Emily Balch, Clare Kerr, and Becca Haley to form a tight friendship made through bitterness towards their ex-husbands.

Lauren still maintains these friendships, and still can’t let her perceived injustices go to this day, as she recently put Orion on blast on Instagram for not signing the divorce papers.

Orion has remained mostly quiet after the show. He did get in hot water with fans for lighting illegal fireworks around the fourth of July, but as far as his relationship with his Married at First Sight partner, there does not seem to be one. Lauren seemed like she wanted to get together with season 17’s Michael Shiakallis, but that was squashed by Michael’s ex-wife, Chloe Brown. Lauren and Chloe had beef after that, with Lauren and her season 17 girl squad allegedly saying rude remarks online about Chloe on a burner page.
