Married At First Sight: How Authentic Will The Season 18 Cast Be? (The Franchise Is Ignoring Popular Opinion)

There are questions regarding the Married at First Sight season 18 cast’s authenticity, as the show seems to be ignoring popular opinion. Married at First Sight season 18’s premiere date was recently announced as October 15, 2024. So far, the cast has been announced, with five couples joining the show. Five couples have been featured ever since season 10. The earlier seasons only highlighted the marrying a stranger journeys of three couples.

Very few spoilers about season 18 have been leaked, but the majority of the cast can be found on Instagram. Married at First Sight is coming off years of extremely low success rates among the couples who were matched by the “experts.” What fans want out of MAFS season 18 are pairs who are well-matched based on their value systems, cultural background, physical appearance preferences, and non-negotiables. However, fans might not get what they are asking for.

MAFS Has Had A Casting Problem For Years

It has become clear based on the sheer number of failed couples that the casting choices have been off the mark. Out of the 64 couples matched over the last 17 seasons, only 12 are still together, putting the success rate among the matches at just 18.75%. This is due to many cast members not being attracted to their partners, not putting in the work it takes to get to know the other person on a deeper level, and not being ready for the responsibility of marriage.

The lack of quality cast members has been a reoccurring problem in the MAFS franchise, and it is underscored by the low percentage of successful couples.

In the reality TV genre, clout chasers getting cast has become a huge problem, and MAFS is not immune from the issue. There have been people cast, like Taylor Dunklin, Jasmine Secrest, and Zach Justice, who have joined the show for their own personal gain, as evidenced by their post-show attempts at becoming content creators and influencers, which has soured the show. Given the history, it’s possible season 18 could share the problem.

Did MAFS Really Cast “Mature” People In Season 18?

In @mafslifetime‘s first MAFS season 18 promotional post, pictures of the couples together were shown in a montage video. The caption of the post reads, “Introducing the couples of #MarriedAtFirstSight Season 18…or are they?”

The dubious nature of the caption, which alludes to scandal and drama and the notion that not all originally matched will stay together, is not a good sign. In the comments of the Instagram post, viewers expressed their discontent with the poor nature of what was presented in the clip.

“Many viewers no longer believe in the authenticity of the couples.. it would do you well to pay attention to the comments and not ignore.”

Another commentor alluded to the idea that the show has veered away from its original intention, which is matching people who are right for each other on paper.

“This show disappointedly has become “Friends At First Sight” They focus more on friendships than the marriages! And that is why no one stays together To many people involved in the marriages.”

Furthermore, in the first info given from the network regarding season 18, a “mature” cast was promised, but if history is any indication, fans should take that with a grain of salt.

Are The Season 18 Couples Ready To Put In Work?

The only way for fans to be satisfied with the season and for the couples to come out of the experience still together, is for each other individuals to put the necessary work in to make their marriages last. The leaked trailer by fan account @mafsfan shows a lot of drama, including a couples swap and a cheating scandal, which denotes that some cast members might not be taking their vows seriously. That lack of intention and commitment is a red flag for the Married at First Sight cast’s authenticity.

It’s Important For MAFS Season 18 To Be Received Well

Married At First Sight's Dr. Pia looks confused, with a cast member holding flowers and two stars hugging.

Married at First Sight fans are over being disappointed by the low-quality cast and the lack of follow-through regarding their vows.

Continued viewership is on the line with season 18’s debut and run, and it needs to be received well to retain its audience.

With little to go on at this point, fans will have to watch the season and form their own opinions, even though its clear the network has not been paying attention to them and what they want to see from the show.
