MAFS Season 17 Women Dish on the Status of Their Controversial Friendships

Married at First Sight season 17’s girl group shared posts indicating how their controversial friendships are doing. Emily Balch, Becca Haley, Clare Kerr, and Lauren Goodger were four out of the five women from Married at First Sight season 17, and the original brides who began the season. Chloe Brown was the fifth bride. None of their marriages in season 17 worked out, but the original foursome became very close and caused a lot of drama in the meantime with their thoughts on their husbands, Chloe, and divorce fallouts.

On Instagram, Emily and Clare shared a joint post in celebration of Emily’s birthday. The pair stood together smiling and dressed up alongside both Becca and Lauren, solidifying to fans that their girl group was still intact.

“Birthday smooches for the bday girl,” the caption of the post read.

While there were a lot of positive remarks toward the women and their continued friendship, they did get called out as “mean girls” in a popular comment. None of the women engaged in the accusation, although Emily has been known to throw shade right back at her haters in the past on her posts. It’s possible the women aren’t letting the negativity bother them anymore and they are trying to portray unbothered fronts.

Why The MAFS Season 17 Girl Group Was Labeled Villainous

Emily, Clare, Becca, and Lauren were labeled as mean girls for their season 17 behavior, especially their treatment of Chloe.

The season 17 foursome all felt wronged by their husbands who they thought were not authentic during the process and, in turn, ruined their relationships. The women tried to stand united after Decision Day and support one another in speaking out about and to their ex-husbands, and they came full force – all dressed in coordinated pink – at the Reunion to bash their former husbands.

Emily and Lauren were especially venomous in their attacks on their ex-husbands, and it made them look bitter, resentful, and immature to the Married at First Sight audience at large. Even bigger group dynamic negativity that earned the foursome their villain labels came when they had a fallout with Chloe. Lauren was seemingly trying to get close to Chloe’s ex Michael Shiakallis, and Chloe apparently wouldn’t let that stand (via Access Hollywood.)

“I’m not in the business of coddling people’s insecurities,” Lauren said about Chloe.

In the fallout of Lauren’s remarks, it seemed like the other girls in the girl group iced Chloe out, and Chloe even claimed they made a burner account to troll her online and say mean and hurtful things about her. On the subject of her thoughts on the Married at First Sight season 17 girl group, Chloe said, “These women do not want to heal,” followed by, “I wish them everything they may need to be different people.” Emily, Clare, Becca, and Lauren may still be friends today, but their behavior on the show painted them in a bad light.
