I still can’t believe that Tigerlily Taylor decided to marry Adnan Abdelfattah on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days just four months after knowing him. Tigerlily lives in Frisco, Texas. Tigerlily is 41 years old and a certified handwriting expert who also owns a few businesses. Tigerlily met Adnan on Instagram. She romanced him despite Adnan being 21 years old and from Amman. Tigerlily had never experienced true love before. Adnan made her feel special and wanted.

However, Tigerlily made the absurd decision to marry Adnan the day she would meet him for the first time in Jordan. I keep asking myself why Adnan couldn’t come to meet her in America on a tourist visa himself and why Tigerlily had to fly to see him. Tigerlily and Adnan had more than a few awkward moments of silence between them on the show. It looked like they were feeling shy around each other and there was hardly any chemistry between them. I was certain that Tigerlily was not going to go ahead with her decision to marry him.

Tigerlily’s Childhood Seems To Have A Tragic Story

When Tigerlily was introduced as a cast member for 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, I even wondered if such a unique name was her real name or something she was using for the show. Several fans reached out to Tigerlily to ask her about it, and she told them the truth. Tigerlily explained that she is half Japanese and that she is Austrian and Native American on her father’s side. She admitted that a “life-changing” thing had happened that led to her changing her hair color so drastically and going from a natural brunette to platinum blonde.

However, that’s not all there is to Tigerlily’s heartbreaking backstory.

She revealed that while she has legally changed her name to Tigerlily now, she was born with a Japanese name. I came across an Instagram Story she posted where Tigerlily shared a picture of herself as a baby. She’d written that her name was Mariko and the person who named her “poisoned, killed, and stole” from someone she deeply cared about. She did not reveal who she was referring to, but it was seemingly a family member who had hurt the Texas woman and left her in pain.

Tigerlily’s Ex-Husband Was Controlling

Tigerlily’s troubles did not end when she grew up. She lived a life of privilege, but it came at a cost. I was shocked when I heard her talking about how she married a man at 31 who made her feel like she was living in a golden birdcage. Tigerlily had become pregnant and married the man, but he was supposedly so controlling that he kept Tigerlily under constant surveillance. He showered her with the most expensive clothes, bags, and shoes, but the lovely Tigerlily wasn’t allowed to have friends. She made her hairstylist, her life coach, her friends.

While Tigerlily finally found the courage to leave her husband after four long years of divorce, she unfortunately didn’t learn from her mistakes. Tigerlily fell for Adnan from Jordan without knowing much about him. She seems to have been enamored by his looks and didn’t ever discuss what life would be like marrying a Muslim man with him. I watched as Adnan told the cameras that Tigerlily couldn’t be friends with men after their marriage. He didn’t even like that she’d bought a male hairstylist along with her, even if Tigerlily considered him her brother.

Adnan also decided what Tigerlily would wear. He made her twirl as he closely examined her outfit before they headed out to their marriage ceremony. Adnan also spoke about having five kids with Tigerlily despite knowing that she was 41 years old and already a mom to two. Moreover, I still wonder why Tigerlily chose not to discuss finances with Adnan. She thought it was unnecessary since she believed Adnan was a hardworking man who wouldn’t sit idle at home after coming to the U.S.

Did Tigerlily & Adnan’s Marriage Survive?

The most surprising thing about Tigerlily and Andan’s storyline to me is that they’ve managed to stay together despite Adnan’s behavior. The couple married in September 2023 and Tigerlily has posted a video from their wedding ceremony on Instagram. Adnan is also in the U.S. currently, and they have made their marriage last for almost a year. It’s likely that Adnan went through a transformation himself and decided not to make Tigerlily follow his strict rules in America. If Adnan really did change after marriage, I guess it makes Tigerlily’s decision to wed him a wise one.
