I Know Married At First Sight Season 18 Will Have This Major Flaw (It Could Ruin The Season)
I believe Married at First Sight season 18 is poised to have a major flaw that could ruin the season. I have been an avid Married at First Sight fan for the last five years and have expert knowledge of all seasons and cast drama on and off-screen. Married at First Sight season 17 ended in April 2024 after having begun in mid-October 2023, making it the longest season in franchise history. Season 17 was also not well-received by fans. It was largely deemed a failure because none of the couples stayed together. Furthermore, there was the show’s first runaway bride, which speaks to the bad casting of the show.
The Married at First Sight experts, who are tasked with matching the couples and guiding them through the eight-week-long journey, have been a trio for three seasons now. While Dr. Pepper Schwartz premiered and stayed from season 1 on and Pastor Cal Roberson joined in season 4, Dr. Pia is the newest expert, having joined the series in season 15. It has been their responsibility to take into thoughtful consideration the participants, cultural background, non-negotiables, appearance preferences, and personalities. However, due to their incapabilities and an attributed factor, I think Married at First Sight season 18 is doomed.
MAFS Season 18’s Premiere Has Finally Been Announced
There was a Married at First Sight season 18 trailer dropped at the end of the finale of season 17, and another one came at the end of the season 17 Reunion. However, the trailers were not official season 18 ones, and they didn’t give much away in terms of cast identity, couple pairings, or precise drama the season will encounter. I know this left fans highly anticipating more news about the premiere of season 18.
Last week, a spoiler was leaked about the official premiere date. It will debut on October 4, 2024, leaving fans with an almost six-month hiatus between season. The formal trailer for MAFS season 18 has yet to drop, however. So while myself and viewers know a little bit about what’s to come, and the cast’s Instagram handles, there isn’t much to go on yet in terms of reception. But I know the current released sneak peeks are enough to demonstrate that season 18 has a glaring red flag that could be detrimental.
MAFS Season 18 Will Have Problematic Cast Members
After several disastrous and ill-performing seasons, Married at First Sight season 18 needs to bring likable cast members who are not on the show for clout and who genuinely want to find their forever person, but I’m certain season 18 won’t bring that. That is because, judging by the trailers, I’ve noticed there are problematic cast members who don’t seem ready for marriage or have glaring red flags that mean they shouldn’t have been cast on the show in the first place.
One cast member was depicted about to have cold feet, which harkens back to the runaway bride fiasco in season 17, which was a huge credibility issue for the show. Secondly, there is a very ornery and volatile cast member who I feel clearly lacks emotional intelligence and anger control, two traits that have no business being in a cast member who was hand-picked for someone. Moreover, there will be early questions about a certain marriage’s longevity. While the poor casting is the biggest issue, I feel it is compounded by the ineptitude of the experts.
“I’m not everybody cup of tea but I’m somebody Hennessy and Coke and in four weeks there ain’t gonna be no marriage.”
The Poor Casting Is A Poor Reflection On The MAFS Experts
The MAFS experts have dropped the ball once again with season 18. I think before the season even starts, it already has the decision to keep all three experts going against it. It was their job not to choose questionable characters on the show, and because they have, I know it will ruin the season and viewer reception from the jump.
How Will Married At First Sight Be Received?
Since the official trailer has yet to drop and first impressions haven’t truly been made yet, the jury is still out on how the season will give an impression as a whole, but I think the season will be a wash. The same old viewer despairs of having to watch problematic people who should not have been cast and couples that are mismatched will rear its head. Lifetime’s Married at First Sight season 18 is poised to be a letdown, and I feel it’s unfortunate given the hopeful nature of the fanbase.
