I Believe Married At First Sight Season 18 Will Continue The Trend Of Unsuccessful Matches (Are The Experts To Blame?)

Married At First Sight season 18 has the opportunity to change the perception of the series for viewers, but I believe that it’ll continue the trend of unsuccessful matches from seasons past. Though MAFS has been one of the most interesting reality TV dating shows of the modern era, the series has had a difficult time in the last few seasons keeping couples together throughout the season itself, let alone after its end. The couples on MAFS, who are paired by the panel of experts that have been with the series for years, have struggled to see the experiment through.

I Believe Married At First Sight Season 18 Will Continue The Trend Of Unsuccessful Matches (Are The Experts To Blame?)

Despite knowing that the realities of Married At First Sight are different than they may appear on screen, the participants who have been part of the show have been seeing firsthand how much harder MAFS is once you’re actually involved. Despite knowing that it can’t be an easy process, the low success rate of marriages on Married At First Sight in recent years has proven that the participants highly underestimate the effort it’ll take to stay together throughout potential issues. On top of struggling to keep themselves together, some participants even find themselves losing interest in their MAFS spouse quickly.

With five couples per season typically entering the experiment, there are rarely still five by the end of a season of Married At First Sight. While it’s never been the point of the show to have all five couples stay together and choose each other on Decision Day, there have been seasons in recent years where there are no couples choosing each other by the end, and some who have made their decision earlier than Decision Day. Though many have had hope for Married At First Sight season 18, I’m convinced things will continue to go downhill for the show.

The MAFS Experts Have Had A Poor Track Record In Recent Years

Although Married At First Sight has been a long-running reality TV dating show, the series has had an unfortunately low track record in recent years. While success is measured differently to different people, I look at success on MAFS to come from couples who choose each other on Decision Day and stay together after the season’s ended. While one couple did choose each other on Decision Day during MAFS season 17, the pair quickly broke up within a mere 48 hours. Prior to that, the last legitimately successful couple of the series originated from Married At First Sight season 16.

While that’s not too far back, MAFS season 16’s Chris Thielk and Nicole Woley were the first successful couple on the show in four seasons. Before Chris and Nicole, who faced only a few minor blips on their journey to choose each other and their marriage on Decision Day, the last successful couple to come from MAFS was Briana Myles and Victor Morales from Married At First Sight season 12. The pair were well-suited to one another and ultimately stayed together. Although MAFS viewers have enjoyed both couples, seeing only two successes in six seasons is alarming for the show.

MAFS Season 18 Promises To Be More Dramatic

While MAFS has been on thin ice with a lot of viewers in recent years, especially after the drama of Married At First Sight season 17, the newest season has promised to deliver on the drama. Though Married At First Sight season 18 seems to be off to a bumpy start with viewers, the show has shared that there will be an earth-shattering scandal that changes the fabric of MAFS as we know it. Though the promo for the series doesn’t name names, it appears the show will be experiencing its first ever wife swap during the upcoming season.

Two of the couples will break up during the season in order to form, potentially, two new couples after some serious infidelity takes place, according to the Married At First Sight season 18 promotional material. While there aren’t too many details about the shake up, it will be the first of its kind for MAFS viewers and the participants themselves. With elements of several different scandals all rolled into one, Married At First Sight season 18 has promised some serious drama throughout the season, which could be beneficial to viewers who like drama.

Drama On Married At First Sight Could Come From Couples Splitting Up

The drama on MAFS season 18 will likely come from the infidelity in the most part, but it could see some other factors contributing to the drama as well. With couples consistently choosing to split up before the season’s end on Married At First Sight, I believe that some of the drama will come from couples separating well before the experiment comes to an end. Though MAFS doesn’t always have couples who choose to end their relationships long before Decision Day, the drama in question could be from separation and divorce.

Despite knowing that there will be a major scandal that becomes part of the fabric of Married At First Sight, the typical reasons behind drama on the series will also surely be in play. Some couples will likely choose to end their relationships early, while others will try to make things work until the bitter end of the season. With MAFS, I often find myself wondering if any of the couples are actually suited to one another, especially with the frequency with which they split up and move on.

I Think MAFS Season 18 Could End With No Lasting Couples

Although it seems likely that Married At First Sight season 18 could surprise the audience, I think it’s probably doomed to fail. MAFS season 18 having a major scandal over its head ahead of time gives viewers some serious expectations as of what’s to come on the show. With so much potential drama in the pipeline, I feel certain that MAFS will fail to deliver on what it’s seemingly promised for the season. Though there will be couples who wind up swapping spouses and trying things differently, it won’t make a difference in the end of the season.

I feel certain that Married At First Sight season 18 will end with another failing season, and no couples will find themselves moving forward together after it ends. Though some may choose each other on Decision Day, it feels unlikely that the success rate will improve during the current season. While I hope to be wrong and see some genuine relationships form on the show, Married At First Sight has let me down before, and probably will again.
