How Married At First Sight’s Olajuwon and Katina Are Defying the Odds and Proving Critics Wrong
Married at First Sight season 14 couple Olajuwon Dickerson and Katina Goode have defied the odds and reached an exciting milestone in their marriage. Season 14 took place in Boston, Massachusetts, and showcased five hopeful couples. Alyssa Ellman threw a fit about her husband Chris Collette’s appearance on their wedding day and refused to spend any time with him thereafter and give him a chance. They had the shortest marriage in Married at First Sight history with only 12 days. While their time on the show was short-lived, it was infamous for Alyssa’s constant assertions she was a “good person.”
Katina and Olajuwon, along with Mark Maher and Lindsey Georgoulis, Steve Moi and Noi Phommasack, and Jasmina Outar and Michael Morency followed through with the entire process to the end of the eight weeks. Surprisingly, all four couples said yes to each other come Decision Day, but all of them subsequently broke up, including Olajuwon and Katina. Married at First Sight season 14 was highly entertaining as the couples all experienced interesting issues. However, Katina and Olajuwon are perhaps the most memorable for their problems and individual quirkiness.
Katina & Olajuwon Were A Controversial Couple In MAFS Season 14
Olajuwon asked the Married at First Sight experts for a traditional woman who wanted to take care of her man. During the season, Olajuwon came to the conclusion that Katina was not cutting it with her wife duties, with her inability to cook being a top grievance he had. In an emotional and memorable lunch, Olajuwon questioned Katina’s womanhood and made her cry (via Lifetime.) He didn’t think she had enough skills as an adult and really endeavored to make her feel bad. Katina tried to defend herself against the notion she couldn’t cook because wanted to fulfill Olajuwon’s requests, however, she did not like his approach.
“If you don’t want to cook, what are you going to do?”
In another instance, Olajuwon’s quick temper was on full display. He saw that Katina had a dating app downloaded on her phone and totally lost it, claiming that he lost all trust in her. Katina said that she was not active on it and forgot to delete it. Olajuwon took the situation very seriously and brought it up around the other couples to trash-talk Katina. Olajuwon proved how cold and unreasonable he could be during this situation, and would not hear Katina out and painted anything she said as excuses.
While Olajuwon was clear about his expectations from his wife throughout the experience, his delivery was very poor and showcased his lack of emotional maturity.
He didn’t take the negative impact of how Katina took the way he was speaking to her into account, and it made it seem like Katina was reluctantly submissive. Olajuwon was the most controversial cast member of Married at First Sight season 14, and his fiery personality did not seem like a compatible match or Katina’s softness.
Katina & Olajuwon Have Broken Up Several Times
Married at First Sight season 14 aired in January 2022 and was filmed in 2021. While Katina and Olajuwon said yes to each other and remained married after Decision Day, the cracks were apparent at the Reunion. The pair split in November 2022, but reconciled a few weeks later in December 2023, and shared a vacation post. They split once again in February 2023, with Olajuwon issuing a statement.
“We are officially legally separated. We leave with the utmost respect for each other.”
However, in April 2023, Katina and Olajuwon appeared together and cozy at Steve Moi’s birthday party and have apparently been back together ever since.
Katina & Olajuwon Are Building A House
Olajuwon and Katina seem to have been drama-free since their latest breakup, and are appearing to be stronger than ever. In an Instagram Story yesterday (shared on Reddit via u/ChanDW,) Olajuwon shared an image of him and Katina on a picturesque beach embracing each other. In the caption, Olajuwon revealed that he and Katina took a huge next step in their marriage. Katina reshared Olajuwon’s post in her Instagram Stories.
“@__slimgoodie it’s about that time ! Finish building the new house in June and we [plane emoji.]”
Katina and Olajuwon are proving their Married at First Sight critics wrong. They seemed to have learned from each other over the years and are comfortable enough to begin a home journey together. Since they tend to share their personal things on social media, fans should stay tuned to find out what happens between the pair in the future.
