General Hospital star Real Andrews took to social media to share the news of a devastating loss. The GH star who has played Marcus Taggert for nearly 30 years updated fans on Instagram. What happened? Here is what he had to say, plus when fans can expect to see him on the soap opera again.
Real Andrews Shares Heartbreak With Fans
On Wednesday, Real Andrews shared a photo of his cat on Instagram. The black cat with white paws lay on the sidewalk in the snapshot. In the caption, Real shared some heartbreaking news about his feline friend.
“RIP Louis,” he wrote. “Champ, I went to the stairs this morning at 4 AM and usually when I come home I’m greeted by Louis jumping on my car putting his dirty footprints on my freshly wash car.”
He continued, “As I stepped out of my vehicle, there was a massive coyote there and I just (shooed) it away and when I did that, I noticed there were five other coyotes on the neighbors lawn.”
Unfortunately, the General Hospital star shared that the other coyotes were “surrounding Louis.” Sadly, the cat did not survive the attack.
“I didn’t get home in time so it is a sad day,” Real Andrews concluded the post. “I would just ask that you pray for my son Nathan I love you. Have a great day.”
Fans were quick to hop in the comment section and offer their condolences for the GH legend. “So very sorry for your loss,” one Instagram user wrote. “So sorry (you) had to witness that as well. Sending hugs and prayers for all whose lives Louis touched.”
Is Marcus Taggert Coming Back To General Hospital?
Real Andrews first joined the cast of General Hospital in 1996 as Marcus Taggert. He exited the soap opera for one year from 1997-1998, then he returned from 1998 to 2003. Real came back to Port Charles in 2020, and many long-time fans have enjoyed seeing him back on the soap.
However, his return was short-lived. General Hospital fans last saw Marcus Taggert on the soap opera in July 2023.
Although many fans have asked when the actor will make his return to the daytime soap opera, he hasn’t had an answer. He shared a video on Instagram to address his possible return earlier this year.
In the clip, he said, “I appreciate your support. At this point it’s really gonna up to you guys — and God, first and foremost. If God wants me back, I’ll be back, but also with your support — you guys have a very loud voice, especially in today’s day and age, so between God and you all making a bunch of noise.
At the end of the day, Real Andrews said, “If it’s meant to be, I’ll be back and if I’m back, I’ll bring it, you know? That’s what I do.”
