General Hospital: It is amazing how dogs show unconditional love and bring happiness to our lives. Only a pet parent like Cameron Mathison can understand it. He owns a dog named ‘Red.’ He loves his Doberman so much, but lately, the actor shares heartbreaking news about his pup. Mathison revealed how his dog is battling for life. Red – Fighting For Life

Red was diagnosed with multiple myeloma-type cancer a few months ago. General Hospital actor revealed that the cancer is in his spine, causing paralysis in his back legs. In the wake of his pet’s situation, Mathison shared a video on his Instagram. In the video, he added snippets of Red undergoing treatments like acupuncture and aquatic therapy and a shot of him using a wheelchair. Truly heartbreaking to watch! The video ended with an adorable picture of Mathison and his pooch.

Cameron Mathison wrote that the prognosis isn’t good in the caption. He mentioned they do their best to keep the pet happy until his last days. With the help of the Two Hands Four Paws Foundation, the General Hospital star is trying to give his pup the best quality of life. Mathison owed this post to Red by quoting how much he loves him. The actor also mentioned how good he has been for 11 years and that they’re doing their best to show gratitude in return.

General Hospital: About Mathison’s Cancer Journey

General Hospital star himself went through this dreadful experience earlier in 2019. In August 2019, Mathison was diagnosed with Renal cell carcinoma or kidney cancer. Though he was worried about the cancer, the actor felt relieved after learning it was curable. In September 2019, the tumor was removed from his kidney. Now, Mathison is fit and healthy. However, now that his dog has cancer, he has to endure the pain.

Red is diagnosed with Multiple myeloma, affecting plasma cells in humans and animals. Unfortunately, it hit the sweet Doberman. This type of cancer affects organs and bones. It is heart-wrenching to watch Red undergo various treatments. Mathison is grateful for the time being spent with him all these years.
