90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? star Michael Ilesanmi found a new life with his new family once Kobe Blaise helped him escape the clutches of his alleged abuser Angela Deem. Kobe came to the U.S. on a K-1 visa from Cameroon on 90 Day Fiancé season 9. He’d waited two years and missed watching his son being born and growing up. Kobe understood what it felt like to wait for a document that would allow him to reunite with his loved ones. He was fortunate that Emily Bieberly loved him unconditionally and her parents accepted him as their own.
Kobe realized that it wasn’t the case with Michael. Michael did not get a warm welcome in the U.S. Both Angela and her daughter Skyla Deem accused him of being a scammer. They even humiliated him by hiring a private investigator to snoop on him. Michael was treated like a nobody in Angela’s Hazlehurst house. He claimed he was mentally and physically mistreated by his wife of four years. Michael took a chance and ran from Angela’s house in February 2024. He had nowhere to go, but fans wondered if Michael ended up in Kobe and Emily’s new Kansas house.
How Did Kobe Blaise Help Michael Ilesanmi To Escape?
Kobe recently revealed whether he really helped Michael escape and if the Nigerian man is living with him and Emily right now. He told “Pink Shade” podcast, “Well, it depends on how they wanna put it out there.,” When the host asked Kobe, “Did you help with his escape?” Kobe said that while he didn’t “directly” help Michael plan his escape, he did motivate Michael and made him realize his worth. He told Michael that he shouldn’t be in a position where he is “constantly abused.” However, Kobe admitted he did not tell Michael to leave his wife.

Kobe could just imagine Michael coming to a strange place where he didn’t know anyone and the only person he knew was trying to isolate him from “almost everybody.” Kobe said that the real question fans should be asking about how Angela was “benefitting” from the relationship. Michael could have confided in Kobe about what Angela was doing to him behind closed doors. Kobe was simply looking out for his friend and is the happiest now that Michael has his freedom.

While most stars turned a blind eye towards Angela when she was bullying Michael in front of them at the Tell All, Kobe valiantly confronted her. He won brownie points for telling Angela she had disrespected Michael and that even a “fly can’t respect him.” Kobe didn’t stop, even after Angela pushed Michael to “hush” the Cameroon native. Kobe was hurt when he heard Angela say that Michael’s visa was “her” visa and that she was going to take it back. As he told Michael that the visa belonged only to him, Angela couldn’t stand anyone telling Michael his rights.

He may or may not have planted the seed of the “escape” in Michael’s mind, but Kobe gave him a reason to believe that no one except Angela thought that he was a scammer and a fraud. Kobe was the only person to stand up to Angela, and he did it with all his might. Angela even wanted to fight Kobe, but that didn’t stop him from trying to help a man who he’d known for barely a few hours.
