When Married at First Sight season 15 alums Stacia Karcher and Nate Barnes filed for divorce, it was sad news, but both seem to be healing, and their lives have changed a lot since their split. MAFS isn’t known for its stellar success rate, so it’s not a big shock when one of its pairs decides that lifetime commitment was the wrong decision. However, there is life after divorce, and Stacia and Nate are living proof. Stacia and Nate were joined by four other couples in season 15.
On Married At First Sight season 15, Stacia and Nate weren’t a match made in heaven, so the show’s experts possibly misinterpreted the data that they examined. However, their relationship did show some promise at one time. Nonetheless, by the honeymoon, the honeymoon was basically over. When they were paired, both were 34 years old. Their MAFS installment was set in San Diego. While they seemed to appreciate each other’s looks, that kind of superficial attraction wasn’t enough to keep their marriage alive.
Why Did Married At First Sight’s Stacia & Nate Divorce?
Nate probably wasn’t ready for marriage. Although Stacia and Nate wed at first sight, after their nuptials, Nate was still sheepish about really leaning into married life. For example, he didn’t seem to want to live with his wife, which was a very prominent red flag. They spent time at each other’s apartments, never really settling down in a home that they could call their own. Stacia wanted to get more serious, but Nate wasn’t sure that was right for him.
The perils of marrying a stranger are easy to recognize. A wife doesn’t know her husband, and vice versa. After the cameras stop rolling, people who “marry at first sight” may make less effort to appear nice, reasonable, and so on. They’ll be more flawed… and more human. No one is perfect at all times. The pressures of real life descend, and the duo must sink or swim. In this case, those stressors were too much for Stacia and Nate. She wanted a family, and he wasn’t really sure about that. They had serious differences, as their life goals weren’t aligned.

Stacia isn’t living in the past. In fact, she’s remarkably cheery on Instagram, where she cracks jokes, such as a fun zinger about bad, “iced coffee,” as seen above. It was particularly funny because she’d once had a spicy debate with Nate. They argued over a costly espresso machine. She posts frequently and currently has 163K followers. Stacia is also passionate about fitness and frequently shares posts of herself hard at work in the gym.
She and Nate announced their divorce news in late December 2022, and she doesn’t appear to be heartbroken. Of course, an IG account only displays what the owner wants followers to see. While she could deal with sadness under the surface (and who doesn’t?), she’s staying fit and active and clearly enjoying life. She’s involved in many of the types of activities that influencers gravitate towards, including running a YouTube channel and promoting a subscription service (it’s for wine). She also has an accounting day job, as per Distractify.
Stacia is also still very close with Alexis, Lindy, and Krysten from season 15.
The foursome have gone on vacation together and also hype each other up through posts and comments. If Stacia took anything positive away from her MAFS experience, it’s being friends with her squad who she shared the journey.

Nate’s also on Instagram, and last month, he moved to a new home. He seems so happy about changing residences, even though he was known for alternating between apartments when he was with Stacia. As seen above, he really opened up about what his split did to him, and he took it more seriously than some people might have imagined. Living in a tiny studio made it all worse, as he felt isolated and alone in the small space. Now, he has more room, and nesting in his new home has raised his spirits.
In March 2024, Nate hard launched a new woman in his life, although he has not tagged her handle in any of the posts they have together. The photos they’ve posted together haven’t been especially close, just the pair smiling outdoors together. Nate has not added mushy captions about the woman in his life either. Nate’s new woman also appears to be just as athletic as Nate, and the pair enjoy doing outdoor activities together.
Sometimes, people don’t stop and think about what being on reality TV does to people. Living out a troubled relationship onscreen can lead to sadness, anxiety, and depressive symptoms. That’s because there are genuine emotions linked with the romance (and how it ends), as well as feelings associated with being trolled online. It’s a lot. Nate is handling it well and should be commended for speaking out. He believes in therapy and sets goals. As for career, he’s involved with day trading.

Season 15 was one of the most entertaining and well-remembered seasons of the Married at First Sight, and the drama in Nate and Stacia’s marriage contributed to that. Married At First Sight season 15 was packed with drama, and Stacia and Nate are memorable, together or apart. It’s fun to keep up with the cast members from various MAFS seasons, as they navigate life without a camera crew tracking them. Like everyone, they have ups and downs that are so relatable.
None of the season 15 couples lasted. Stacia and Nate, Alexis and Justin, and Lindy and Miguel all ended up saying yes on Decision Day. However, Alexis and Justin split just hours later, Stacia and Nate divorced in 2022, and Lindy and Miguel divorced in 2023. Morgan asked Binh for a divorce shortly after returning from their honeymoon, and Mitch and Krysten both said no to each other. Stacia and Nate weren’t meant to be, but without the Married at First Sight experience they had, their lives would not have catapulted to where they are today.
