GH’s Cameron Mathison Has an Exciting New Role!
Drew Cain… er, Quartermaine… just made a big announcement on General Hospital that he’s running for Congress — and now his portrayer, Cameron Mathison, has a big announcement as well! The actor will share the screen opposite Candace Cameron Bure this holiday season in the original film Jingle Bells, Wedding Bells!
According to a press release from Great American Family, the two actors — both staples at the network — will headline the new film, set to debut in November during the fourth annual Great American Christmas programming block. “Been looking forward to working with Cameron for so many years!” Bure gushed on Instagram. “How is this just now happening? Very excited!”
The film is set at the fictional Peachtree Inn in Butler, South Carolina, where Bure plays a wedding planner named Gracie. Known for her “no problems, only solutions waiting to be discovered” mantra, Gracie prides herself on making brides’ dreams come true. That is, until Mathison’s Charlie arrives at the Inn with his sister, Lindsay, and future brother-in-law, Josh, hoping that Gracie can create a magical Christmas Eve wedding for the couple in their former hometown. The trio is stunned when Gracie stubbornly declines the job, insisting it is not possible to pull off the perfect wedding two weeks before Christmas. Eventually, Gracie has a change of heart and agrees to plan the nuptials, only to discover that there are more hurdles to overcome than she initially expected.
There’s no word on when production is set to begin on Jingle Bells, Wedding Bells, but since the movie is slated to air in just a few months, it’s likely to be happening soon! As for Mathison’s duties at GH, viewers need not worry that the project will disrupt his schedule. He’s already a pro at juggling his outside projects (like the game show Beat The Bridge) with his soap storyline, and now that Drew is running for office, he can easily be off-screen on the campaign trail should the need arise to cover Mathison’s absence!
