90 Day Fiancé: Zoolander Is Getting Out Of Control

Moving into the ninth episode of this new 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way season, James and Tata were really the only couples slightly holding my attention. That was until Sarper and Shekina had this fight at the end of the episode where Sarper ripped out Shekina’s extension. But before we get into that fight, let’s talk about how we got here with “Dumb and Dumber.”

I made a video previously talking about how these two “robots” applied for the K1 Visa, which wasn’t a complete surprise since they obviously want to be on TV. I mean, they’ve got to keep paying for those procedures. I also talked about how Shekina was mad that Sarper keeps alcohol bottles as trophies from each country he slept with someone in, so she brought a red binder to Turkey with a really long love letter in it from when she was a teenager to make Sarper jealous. By the way, these are adults I’m talking about doing this.

Then they were on a few more episodes where they seemed to forget about the alcohol bottles and red binder and suddenly tried to act like their relationship is actually very serious—well, Shekina is at least. She even goes to meet up with one of Sarper’s exes who tries to warn her about him. All the while, Sarper is just saying the most random things that pop into his hollow head. Yeah, I pictured him imagining random stuff, you know?

They need to pick a lane: serious or not serious. Shekina is all like, “I applied for the K1 Visa, take me seriously, this is my serious face.” While Sarper just keeps saying the most off-the-wall crap that is so unserious. He’s not even taking the whole K1 Visa thing seriously. It was, to be honest, her idea. They applied for it supposedly, but since it can take years, Sarper says they can change their minds in the future, so we’ll see if it’s approved. He’s basically thinking, “Cool, I can back out of this if I don’t want to when it gets approved,” like he doesn’t seem to care at all.

Meanwhile, Shekina is all worried about women trying to take Sarper away from her and is asking his ex how their relationship ended when he claims he’s never even actually had a real relationship. All she keeps finding out is that Sarper is exactly what she called him last season: a walking red flag. He said he loved her and yet acts so surprised when she hears terrible things about him from his ex. This was unnecessarily suspenseful—we know that Sarper sucks, and so does Shekina.

90 Day Fiancé: Sarper Rips Out Shekinah's Hair Extension amid Fight

After she meets up with this woman, the couple goes to meet up at a furniture store, with Sarper looking like a mannequin in that shopping window. Shekina was clearly affected by the way he treated her, but Sarper insists, “I didn’t give any hopes to her.” Shekina expects him to not lie when she confronts him, but when his eyes get wider, you know he’s either lying, about to lie, or trying to think of another lie. Got it?

They argue, but suddenly Sarper transforms into a “love fluffy fluffy bum bun,” saying, “Right now, I’m in a serious relationship, lovey-dovey guy.” Sarper sucks, but he can also be pretty funny—though I don’t even think he’s trying to be funny. Once upon a time before Shekina, he was [__], and now he’s transformed into a peacock trying to impress her.

The running theme is that Sarper is a player, and ironically, Shekina does not want to get played. She’s looking for proof that he’s not a player, but she keeps finding more warning signs that he still is one. Meanwhile, Sarper is constantly saying he’s changed—changed his whole life, stopped sleeping around, and is all about Shekina. Things start to really go downhill when they talk about their birthdays. He claims they were born on the same day, two years apart, due to a time zone difference. I mean, I guess I can believe that.

They meet up with Sarper’s family on their birthday, and things are not going well. His family isn’t happy about their future plans, and Shekina’s family isn’t supportive either. At this point, Shekina starts crying—it’s hard to tell, but I think she’s crying. Her sister didn’t like Sarper either and had a bad impression of him from the previous season.

Later that night, after the dinner, producers show up to the aftermath of a very big fight. According to Shekina, they argued, and Sarper ripped out one of her hair extensions when he tried to take her phone from her. Sarper says it was an accident, but Shekina looks shaken up and leaves.

Shekina claims this doesn’t feel real, but Sarper has always been controlling, manipulative, and temperamental. He’s shown this behavior before—he even ripped a lollipop out of her mouth at the gym last season. This isn’t new behavior. She acts surprised, but the signs have always been there.

Unfortunately, this is where things get even more predictable. She’s not going to leave him. I think she’ll meet up with Sarper and they’ll make up, staying together to keep the reality TV show going. No matter how Sarper acts, she’s already put up with too much. She’s already cut off contact with most of her family for him, and unless something drastic happens, she’s going to stick with him.
