Listen, it may come across as rude or whatever, but at least you’ve stood your ground. For me, I always make it abundantly clear that I’m a pescatarian. You see what I’m saying? And I always say, “Hey, just so you know, I don’t eat certain things.” I also make sure to avoid dairy foods 99% of the time. It’s called communication—it’s not transparency, it’s just basic communication.
The fact that she hasn’t voiced this is wild to me. Doing it this way is utterly rude and disrespectful. That’s rude! Food is really important in my culture. But honestly, if you’re going to be with someone from a background where food is their everything, be open to trying what they serve you. But at least let them know in advance what you won’t eat. Point blank, period.
